After five years as a dirtbag climber and a ski-patroller, I hugged my mountain family goodbye. I moved to the most densely populated neighborhood on the West Coast and enrolled in the University of Washington’s creative writing program. As I got up from the last coffee date of summer break to drive back to Seattle, my friend stopped me on my way out the door. She told me I should check out this podcast. Three months later, I showed up on the Cahall’s doorstep and talked Fitz into leting me intern for the podcast. That was 2012. I’m still here.

Land is currently the CEO of Backcountry Hunters and Anglers, a national conservation group based in Montana. Land has expanded the organization all over the U.S and in Canada.

Ryan Carter is orginally from Nashville, Tennesse, and wanted to become and entrepreneur while still being able to spend time with his dog. He started the company Camping With Dogs. Hi goal is “Inspiring the world to go camping with their dogs!,” and his #campingwithdogs Twitter and Instagram have quickly become popular.
The Camping With Dogs company held a “National Camping With Dogs Day” on September 5th to celebrate and appreciate dogs.

Steven Sashen is the developer and CEO of Xero Shoes • Your Original Barefootware – www.XeroShoes.com. Steven and his wife, Lena Phoenix, started the “Barefoot… PLUS!” sandal business in late 2009; he had returned to sprinting 2 years earlier, at age 45, and experienced almost continuous injuries. An experiment with running barefoot cured the injuries and improved his times. Knowing about the Tarahumara indians in Mexico, who run hundreds of miles in sandals made of tire scraps lashed to their feet, Steven created a high-tech upgrade of that product and launched it online.

Mark Norquist is the founder and editor of Modern Carnivore, a blog and a guide to adult-onset outdoor activities like hunting, fishing and foraging and connecting honesty with food. Mark has worked in marketing and media for over 20 years and has has a lifelong passion for outdoor activities such as hiking, fishing and hunting. He lives in Minnesota currently and graduated from Concordia College located in Moorhead, Minnesota.

Hank Shaw is originally from New Jersey and started his career as a political reporter for various newspapers for over a decade until becoming a food writer, cook and full-time outdoorsman. He hunts and fishes for all the meat he eats and forages food as a daily part of his diet.
Hank runs the wild foods blog Hunter Angler Gardener Cook, which has been nominated for a James Beard Award. He won the International Association of Culinary Professionals award for Best Blog in 2010, and his writing has been featured in Food & Wine, Organic Gardening, Field & Stream, and many other publications.
